Part II — Redesigning Work and Roles

Diagnosis is not redesign. Knowing that AI can accelerate one task does not tell a company how the role should change, which judgments must remain with people, or what authority must move with the new expectations. This part turns task-level capability into an operating design around a complete result.

Chapter 4 separates a role into four kinds of work—tasks, judgment, relationships, and responsibility—and asks when a proposed handoff is sufficiently defined to become a delegable unit of work. Chapter 5 recomposes the role around a stable result: AI-enabled execution, retained human judgment, an explicit accountability boundary, and a process owner able to run the complete workflow and carry its bounded result after launch.

The redesign becomes credible only in ordinary work. A bounded test must show whether the result improved, whether hidden rework moved elsewhere, whether the redesigned role has real authority to reject or stop an AI-supported action, and whether corrections become usable in the next cycle.
